What is a Ludman Complete Process Solution?

A Ludman Complete Process Solution is a turnkey dry compaction process system. Ludman Industries' process specialization begins at output from the ‘wet process’ and concludes when material is prepared for storage or load out.

What is included in a Ludman Turnkey System?

The general contractor of the project supplies the buildings, concrete and incoming power.  Ludman supplies the rest:  compactors, crushers, dryers, mixers, bucket elevators, material handling conveyors, screens, scales, bins, silos, controls, power distribution, switch-gear, dust collection systems, plant SCADA systems, engineering services, procurement management, and project management.

How does a Ludman Turnkey System work?

Ludman Industries designs and implements turnkey systems by listening to customers’ needs and wants.  We have uniquely scalable and flexible product families to accommodate customer requests.

Assembly of smart compaction solutions scaled to the specific application requirements incorporate proven “building-block” type plant configurations.

What does Ludman specialize in, when it comes to providing a turnkey system?

Ludman excels in fines management applications.  Products that are separated as fines, produced as a fine grain, or contain highly friable characteristics generate dust. Ludman specializes in upgrading or converting recyclable fines into salable granular product, through compaction.  Many fertilizer producers tussle with unused fines. Ludman machines solve this issue by providing agglomerated products that are easily shipped, distributed, and spread on farmers' fields across the world.

What are the best features of choosing Ludman Industries to provide your turnkey system?

Ludman Machines usually remain in commission for well over 30 years, and much longer, depending on the care each machine receives. Therefore, Ludman Industries remains focused on your entire system for the long haul and produces equipment that eases maintenance. Ludman builds its machines to save you time, money, and effort on long-term maintenance by upgrading existing machines to latest technologies, such as new super allow technology, nitrided exposure areas, new electrical control features, and new force feeder systems. Ludman is a one-stop shop for all of your parts needs and makes ordering easy.

Ludman's substantial history and expertise in providing complete process solutions, and its long-term commitment as a supplier of key OEM equipment in your system, ensure that you will be in good hands.

Why do companies choose Ludman Industries for their turnkey systems?

Customers frequently choose Ludman for their systems because they appreciate the ease of use, maintenance, and support that Ludman provides. Ludman makes process solutions easier for its customers.

What is a Ludman Compactor?

A roller style press combines torque, via a roll drive system, and thrust, via cylinders in a stressed frame, to agglomerate fines into sheets of product. Agglomeration involves a chemical process, in which two counter-rotating rolls press granular material into larger pieces. Reduction in surface area of agglomerated material leads to better product, and thus, explains why coarser feed is most desirable. Large particles retain less surface area, resulting in less work per unit volume.

What parts make up a Ludman Roll Compactor?

Press forged rolls, pre-stressed robust frames, tie rods, super bolts, gearing options are all designed to benefit customer environment. Other features include inline planetary reducers, hydraulic motors and dual output gearboxes, heavy duty mining grade motors, advanced positioning electrical control systems, coordinated motion force feeders, and over one hundred years of history in the agglomeration and size reduction machines.

How does a Ludman Roll Compactor work?

Ludman Roll Compactors accommodate process a tremendous number of application-specific requirements.  Its compactors provide unique, custom solutions for each customer, such as choosing between force or gravity feed, fine or coarse feed, hot or cold feed, and high throughput versus low throughput. Ludman Roll Compactor technology seamlessly pulls or pushes fine material into the nip zone of a dual roll press. Rolls pull material through the roll nip, and produces dense output.

What is a Ludman Briquetter?

A pocketed roll press combines torque, via roll drive system, and thrust, via cylinders in a stressed frame, to agglomerate fines into pellets or briquettes.

What is the purpose of using a Ludman Briquetter?

Ludman Briquetters serve many diverse applications and producers use them across an array of industries. Many requests occur because a producer needs dense material for shipping or handling. Ludman Briquetters use a single pass process and run fast held, keeping machines small and maximizing ROI for customers. Producers recognize cost savings, when a secondary process is not required.

Feed materials that is high flowing or that consists of fine product distribution, often cannot compact because it flows through the nip zone with touching corrugated rolls. Deep briquette pockets increase the nip zone surface area, allowing more material to flow through the press zone.

What parts make up a Ludman Briquetter?

  • Hammer forged pocketed rolls
  • Pre-stressed robust frames
  • Tie rods
  • Super bolts
  • Inline planetary reducers
  • Heavy duty mining grade motors
  • Advanced positioning electrical control systems
  • Coordinated motion force feeders
  • Over 100 years of history and experience

How does a Ludman Briquetter work?

Ludman Briquetters accommodate process a tremendous number of application-specific requirements. Ludman Briquetters provide unique, custom solutions for each customer. Ludman Briquetter technology seamlessly draws fine material into the nip zone of a dual pocketed roll press. Rolls pull material through the roll nip, and produce dense pelleted output. Single input and dual output shaft gearboxes allow for less technical operation. Automated electrical features can be used on machines with technical operation.

Ludman specializes in upgrading or converting recyclable fines into salable pelleted product, through briquetting.  Many producers tussle with unused fines that require a pelleted solution. Ludman Machines solve this issue by producing dense briquettes that are easily shipped, distributed, and remain intact for end-use.

What is a Ludman Flake Breaker?

Two counter rotating toothed rotors driven by chain and sprockets powered by two HD rated drives. Both sheering and crushing occurs during the process of passing through our flake breaker.  This is the first step to high yield product sizing.

What is a Ludman Granulator?

These machines are high accuracy – high yield -  sizing millsOur granulators are modular units, utilizing two counter rotating hammer forged rolls to sheer the product to size. These rolls are specifically cut custom for every application for the tightest PSD possible.   Our trademarked “Allis-cut” rolls produce tightly sized products due to sheering the product vs. impacting the product.  Sizing applications are volumetric; as a solution, Ludman has implemented two-, three- and four-high mills to complement our single-high product.

What is a Ludman Flaking Mill?

Our flaking mills utilize two counter rotating hammer forged rolls to flake product at high rates of speed.

What is a Ludman Shredding Mill?

Our shredding mills are similar to our granulators but utilize a smooth, and patterned roll to produce a sheet of material.
